Who this applies to
This Privacy Policy applies to the Wajed mobile app and the Wajed website. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@wajed.online.
Summary
Wajed is a local-first, single-device relationship journal. Wajed does not offer a general account system or a general cloud sync backend for your journal content. Most of the content you create in Wajed is stored on your device. Some limited technical and operational data is sent off device to the service providers described below.
Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use Wajed, the app may store the following information locally on your device:
- people profiles
- memories
- events and journals
- mentions
- reminders
- attachments such as photos and videos
- pronunciation recordings
- app settings and security preferences
Contacts import
If you choose to import contacts, Wajed imports a contact display name, a device contact source identifier, an optional contact image, optional relationship labels as profile tags, and optional contact birthdays or custom dates as anniversary entries so you can create people profiles more quickly. Wajed does not import phone numbers, email addresses, or contact notes from your device contacts.
Permissions
Wajed may request access to the following permissions when you use the related feature:
- Contacts, to import people from your address book
- Camera, to take a profile photo or attach a new image or video
- Photos or Media Library, to select existing images or videos for profiles, memories, or events
- Microphone, to record pronunciation audio
- Notifications, to deliver reminders you choose to enable
Permissions are requested from user action. If you deny a permission, you can usually enable it later in your device settings.
Security features
Wajed offers optional security features such as app lock with a PIN and optional biometric unlock after app lock is enabled. Biometric templates such as Face ID or fingerprint data are handled by your device operating system. Wajed does not receive or store your biometric templates.
Information sent off device
Wajed sends limited information off device only through these service providers:
- RevenueCat for subscriptions
- PostHog for product analytics
- Sentry for crash reporting
- Vercel for hosting and analytics on the separate Wajed website
Legal bases for processing
Where privacy laws such as the GDPR or UK data protection law apply, Wajed generally relies on these legal bases:
- performance of our contract with you, to provide the app features you ask to use, such as on-device content storage, reminders, and subscription access
- legitimate interests, to keep the app reliable, prevent misuse, understand product usage, and operate the website
- consent, where you choose to grant device permissions or enable optional actions that depend on them
- legal obligations, where disclosure, retention, or other processing is required by law
RevenueCat
Wajed uses RevenueCat to support subscriptions, purchases, restores, entitlements, and customer center flows. RevenueCat may process anonymous or pseudonymous app user identifiers, subscription status, product identifiers, purchase or restore metadata, and related technical app or device information needed to operate subscription billing and entitlement handling.
Wajed does not use a general Wajed account system.
PostHog
Wajed uses PostHog EU Cloud for product analytics. The app sends analytics events related to app usage, including screen views, onboarding events, premium-gate events, paywall events, restore and customer-center events, and app lifecycle events.
Wajed does not call an identify flow for named user accounts in the app. PostHog may still use pseudonymous device or app identifiers to process analytics events.
Wajed does not intentionally send journal content, pronunciation recordings, attachments, or imported contact lists to PostHog.
Sentry
Wajed uses Sentry for crash and error diagnostics. Sentry may receive crash reports, stack traces, route or screen names, app version, operating system and device context, and other technical diagnostic metadata needed to investigate reliability issues.
Wajed is configured with `sendDefaultPii: false`, which means it is not intentionally configured to send default personally identifiable information such as IP-based default PII through that setting.
Wajed does not intentionally use Sentry to send journal content, attachments, pronunciation recordings, or imported contact lists.
Website hosting and analytics
The Wajed website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process technical request data needed to deliver, secure, and operate the website.
Wajed also uses Vercel Web Analytics on the website only. Website analytics may include information such as page views, route URLs, referrer information, browser or operating system details, device type, and country-level location derived from website traffic.
Support communications
If you contact Wajed at support@wajed.online, support communications may include your email address, message content, attachments you choose to send, and related troubleshooting details.
Notifications
Wajed uses local notifications for reminders. Wajed does not operate a remote push notification backend for reminder delivery.
Reminder lock-screen detail can be configured in the app as `private` or `detailed`.
Data sharing
Wajed does not sell your personal information. Wajed does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used in California privacy law. Wajed shares limited information only with the service providers described in this policy for subscriptions, analytics, crash reporting, website delivery, and support communications. Wajed may also disclose information if required to comply with applicable law or a valid legal process.
Data retention and deletion
App content created in Wajed remains on your device until you delete it in the app or remove the app from your device. Because Wajed does not offer a general account system, deletion of app content is primarily controlled on your device.
Data processed by service providers such as RevenueCat, PostHog, Sentry, Vercel, or support-email systems may be retained by those providers according to their own retention practices and legal obligations.
If you have questions about website or support-communication records, you can contact support@wajed.online.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to certain processing, data portability, and withdrawal of consent where consent applies. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in California, you may also have rights to know, delete, and correct certain personal information, and to receive equal service without discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. Wajed does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Because Wajed is local-first and does not use a general account system, many content-level access, correction, and deletion actions are controlled directly on your device. For provider-held data or support records, contact support@wajed.online.
International transfers
Some service providers used by Wajed may process data in countries other than your own.
Children’s privacy
Wajed is not intended for children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction. Wajed does not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If Wajed learns that provider-held personal information from a child under that age was collected, Wajed will seek to have it deleted where applicable. A parent or guardian who has a concern can contact support@wajed.online.
Changes
Wajed may update this Privacy Policy as the product, legal requirements, or service providers change. The latest version will be posted with its updated date.
