Privacy, App lock and Hide details
Where your journal is stored, how to lock Wajed with Face ID, hide details on the lock screen, and turn off analytics.
Your journal stays on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud backup if you turn it on. There’s no Wajed account and no Wajed server, so nobody else, including us, can read what you write.
What does leave my iPhone?
Only what’s needed to run the app, and never what you write or who it’s about:
- purchases, through Apple;
- anonymous usage counts, which you can turn off;
- crash reports;
- update checks;
- link previews: when you add a link, Wajed fetches that page’s name and picture once, straight from the website.
The Privacy Policy lists each one.
How do I lock Wajed?
- Go to Settings → Privacy and lock.
- Turn on Lock Wajed and choose a 4-digit PIN.
- Turn on Use Face ID if you’d like Face ID to unlock it.
Wajed then asks for Face ID or your PIN every time you open it. To change your PIN, tap Change PIN on the same screen.
I forgot my PIN. What can I do?
There’s no way to reset a PIN; it exists only on your iPhone so nobody else can get around it. If Face ID is on, use it to unlock Wajed, then tap Change PIN.
Without Face ID, the only way back in is to delete Wajed and reinstall it, which removes the journal from this iPhone. If you have iCloud Backup on, restore your journal when Wajed offers it after reinstalling, then set up the lock again.
How do I hide names on the lock screen?
Go to Settings → Privacy and lock and choose Hide details under On the lock screen. Notifications then say only “You have a reminder”, and widgets show counts and times instead of names. App lock does the same for widgets.
What do “Blur in App Switcher” and “Block Screenshots” do?
Blur in App Switcher hides your journal when you swipe between apps. Block Screenshots keeps your journal out of screenshots and screen recordings. Both are in Settings → Privacy and lock.
How do I turn off analytics?
Go to Settings → Privacy and lock and turn off Share usage analytics. Analytics are anonymous counts of how Wajed is used, never what you write or who it’s about. Crash reports stay on so we can fix problems.
