Updating from Wajed 1.x

What changes when you update to Wajed 2.0, and what happens to your people, memories, events and purchase.

Updated October 18, 2026 · 1 min read

Wajed 2.0 is a redesign. Updating keeps everything you had.

Will I lose anything when I update?

No. Your people, memories, photos, voice notes, events, reminders and settings move to 2.0 the first time you open it. Wajed keeps a copy of your old journal on your iPhone for 30 days after a successful update, then removes it.

Wajed 1.x had no backup of its own, so turn on iCloud Backup after updating.

Do I keep Wajed Pro?

Yes. Subscriptions and lifetime purchases carry over automatically. If Pro doesn’t show, go to Settings and tap Restore on the Wajed Pro card.

What’s different?

  • Four tabs: Today, People, Events and Search. Today tells you who to reach out to and why. The old journal feed is gone; use Search to browse memories.
  • One kind of entry: the memory. Event journals and mentions became memories, and one memory can be about several people.
  • Follow-ups turn something someone told you into a question to ask later. See Memories and follow-ups.
  • Rhythms replace reminder frequencies: choose how often you want to talk to each person. See People and rhythms.
  • Your calendar can feed the Events tab. See Events and the calendar.
  • Two widgets: Today and Write. See Widgets.

Why did my notifications change?

Notifications now have one switch in Settings, and each one names a person or an event. If you had turned off every kind of reminder in 1.x, notifications start off in 2.0; turn on Notifications in Settings to get them. See Notifications.

What happened to my tags?

They’re groups now. Find them in Settings → Groups.
