Getting started with Wajed

Wajed tells you when to reach out to someone, what to say when you do, and remembers what they told you so you can follow up. There’s no account and nothing to sign up for. Your journal stays on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud backup if you turn it on.

What happens the first time I open Wajed?

Setup takes about two minutes, and you can skip any step.

1. Six short slides show what Wajed does, through one story. Tap Next to move on once a slide has played.
2. Restore, only if this iPhone finds a Wajed backup in your iCloud and the app is empty. Tap Restore to bring your journal back, or Not now to start fresh. See iCloud Backup.
3. Who matters: choose people from Contacts, or type their names.
4. How often to talk to each of them: weekly, monthly, seasonal, or not set.
5. Notifications, then iCloud Backup. Both can be turned on later in Settings.

If you close Wajed partway through, it picks up at the step where you stopped.

Do I have to give Wajed access to my contacts?

No. Without Contacts, you add people by typing their names and everything else works the same.

With Contacts, Wajed copies only the people you pick: name, photo, dates, phone numbers and email. It never uploads them. If you shared only some contacts with Wajed, tap Choose more on the import screen to add others.

How do I add more people later?

1. Open the People tab.
2. Tap +.
3. Choose people from Contacts, or add someone by name.

Wajed is free for up to 10 people. Adding an 11th asks you to try Wajed Pro.

What should I do first?

Write one thing someone told you recently, like a job interview, a trip or a worry. Today shows a short list of setup steps until you’ve done this, and it’s what makes your first follow-up possible. See Memories and follow-ups.

Which languages does Wajed speak?

English, Arabic, German, Spanish and French. Change it in Settings → Language. Arabic switches the layout to right-to-left straight away, without restarting the app.
